We're so excited that Corey Shephard agreed to do a Question and Answer session with us. As our sponsored player this season, it's no surprise we love our midfield maestro. Sheppy has always been a fan favourite being such an influential player to our wonderful Bluebirds...

Where did Corey Shephard's footballing journey begin?

CS: I started my football journey at Ton & Gelli FC around 4/5 years old, and then I was playing a game 3 years above for my brother's age group. We both got scouted for Cardiff City the same time.

You come from a family full of footballers. Does this come with pressure, or is it comforting knowing your family can empathise with you?

CS: I think a bit of both, really. It’s always good to hear what my father has to say about how I played 'cause I know it will always be an honest answer, whether it was good or bad. That definitely helped me as a youngster, taking advice from him.

Left: Sheppy being interviewed by Sgorio after his man of the match performance against Newtown to take us to Europe. Right: Dictating the tempo as normal whenever he is on the Bridge Meadow pitch.

You have now signed for Haverfordwest on three separate occasions. First from Cambrian, second after a stint at Merthyr and your latest comeback from Pontypridd. What's the one thing that brings you back to the Bridge Meadow?

CS: The group of lads at Havy is the best I’ve been around. It was always so hard to make the decision to leave and so easy to come back. We have a great togetherness, and that has shown in recent years. Not forgetting you fans, the support you show, not only me but the whole squad doesn’t go unseen! Up there with the best 🙌🏼

You've scored some absolute belters in your time here. Can you tell us your favourite? Or your top 3 if that's too difficult to have a single one!

To be honest, I’ve got a couple of favourites but it’s got to be the halfway goal against Bala👊🏼

David Beckham eat your heart out...

There are some moments in football and life that define you, players and supporters. One moment is that penalty shootout win over Newtown in 2023. Talk us through that and how you were feeling walking up to the penalty spot.

CS: Funnily enough, was talking to the boys about this in training the other day. After the full-time whistle, Waggy was choosing the order of pen takers! I asked for the 3rd penalty as it’s one of my lucky numbers, but Jordan Davies said he always takes the 3rd penalty, so I just let him have it. So that left me being the 5th. And of course, pens are intense, and I wasn’t really concentrating on when my turn would be or how many pens we have scored/missed. It was a bit of a blur thinking back😂 Before I knew, it Fawcey missed and I think Newtown missed after that! Dylan passed me the ball and said, ‘take us to Europe’. It was only then I realised it ‘shit, it’s on me’😂 So it all happened quickly and then as they say ‘the rest is history’😍🙌🏼

We know you're a big United fan. Is there any United player over the years who have inspired the way you play?

CS: Definitely Scholes! The way he could ping a ball and dictate a game but then also carry the ball and score goals. Unbelievable.

What former teammate are you still best mates with?

CS: Kieran Lewis, who was also at Haverfordwest with me. I grew up with him and are still really good mates now. Not forgetting how good a player he is 🔥

How has life changed since becoming a dad?

CS: My perspective on life has changed completely. Changed me as a person in so many ways for the better, and I’m so grateful to have my girlfriend Chloe and my son Asher, who are my biggest supporters! Doesn’t get better than that!

Jokers, Greg Walters and Alaric Jones

In the dressing room who would you say are the following:

A) The biggest joker

CS: There’s so many characters in the group. We have such a laugh, but got to be Alaric and Greg, together they are ruthless😂

B) The best DJ

CS: Greg. A crazy mix of music which is right up my street😂🙌🏼

C) The most calm in a high-pressure situation

CS: The skipper Dylan

What are your plans after football? Do you plan on staying in and around or staying out?

CS: Staying in and around for sure. I'd happily be a water boy or kitman just to be around the boys😂I’d miss the dressing room too much if I was a manager/coach.
