If you can't support us when we lose, you can't support us when we win...

In 1997, the world of professional wrestling was rocked when Shawn Michaels was declared the WWF Champion over Bret Hart, beating him by submission, even though he did not tap out. This moment has been called The Montreal Screwjob. I believe that this inspires Cymru Premier referees every week.

Today was no different. Some of the horrid decisions include...

  • Watts being clattered and having to go off injured... nothing given

  • Ahmun being hacked down, a stonewall penalty you would think... nothing given

  • Greg being elbowed in the face off the ball...nothing given

  • Ahmun's first yellow card for absolutely nothing

  • Abu being taken out on the wing...nothing given

  • Sending Tony off and even giving a yellow to Ryan, our Media man

  • And even Connah's Quay Nomads being shafted out of at least one penalty too...

You had to be there to witness the absolute inadequacy, incompetence, and by the end, you could argue pure corruption of this refereeing display. This will forever be known as the Connah's Quay Screwjob. Aaron Wyn Jones has made his name known.

We have struggled lately; there is no point in saying otherwise. Some games have been incredibly frustrating, but there have been some really good elements to parts of these games. Today's include Panashe Makwiramiti being good in midfield, passing the ball around and often finding players in good positions, and Ifan Knott pulling off some super saves, giving Tony and the coaching staff a headache in the goalkeeper department.

There are elements where we haven't been our best, sometimes not making the most of our chances and long balls going nowhere. But focusing on the positives, we just don't give up. We have a great bunch of lads who have faced real adversity in things not going our way, and luck really not being on our side this season, and they keep battling through.

It's easy to pile on transfers, or lack thereof, "not being disciplined", or generally what we should be doing differently. For those who read Tony's Q&A, he reminds us how well we have actually performed, given our position before Rob's takeover in 2020.  (https://cleddaucasuals.wixsite.com/from-the-banks-of-th/post/a-conversation-with-tony-pennock)

A final point about transfers, because it keeps coming up...Lee Jenkins and Zac Jones were awesome, and we were very lucky to have had them for as long as we did. But there's absolutely no point in going over the past. Let's support our lads, we have because it's easy to support a team that does well, but support actually means something when a team is going through rough patches.

We have experienced many difficult times since returning to the Cymru Premier. But we have always found a way to get through these moments. But for now, get behind the lads, buy your tickets, a burger, a pint, because we all need to come together because this little semi-pro team is ours, and we should back them no matter what.

There are always fans of any team who will find fault with anything we do. Lost? We're crap, drawn? Should have won. Won? Should have won by more. Always harping on the past and not seeing how well we are doing compared to when we were Cymru South (and its equivalent) and getting double-digit attendances at the Meadow. Thankfully, those fans are small in number compared to the rest of us. The majority of us can actually see context in what happens in the games, and losses like yesterday often occur because of inadequate refereeing and the psychological factors that arise from it.

The majority love Tony, Rob and all the playing and other staff, and can see what's actually happening. Despite everything, we will always actually support the boys, because, as I say, support actually matters when teams are going through tough times.

Onwards and upwards. All steam ahead, Barry Town United at home tomorrow!

Up the fuckin Bluebirds.

Full-time, Haverfordwest County 1-3 Connah's Quay Nomads. Attendance 341
